Description:
Temple buildings being demolished. Shot from an area to the east of where Temple Street ran looking east across a cleared area where the bulk of the Temple Street buildings have already been demolished to the final remaining section of the building standing beside a large brick factory chimney. Demolition work has already begun on this section in the photo and a workman can be seen standing rather precariously on top of the southern wall. The Barnes Wallace building stands on this same site today. On the reverse of the picture has been written the following ‘Demolition of Temple buildings, the last bit, Monday 14th April 1959 (Observe man performing), T.G.W. (Warburton)’.
