Description:
Black and White photograph of the exterior of the Quay St building, original premises of Owens College. Taken from the eastern side of Quay St opposite the junction with Byrom St the shot is angled NW towards the corner of Byrom and Quay St where the building is situated. Quay St was at this time a cobbled thoroughfare. The old College building had by this date had several of the windows on its southern face bricked and it was in use at this time as a county court. The neighboring building to the north which has since been demolished has a sign fixed to the roof which reads "GRATRIX'S".
