Dear Sir, About two weeks ago I sent you a letter of Mr. Philips Price referring to your statement on the subject of his former position on the Manchester Guardian, and requested you kindly to return it. Would you please be so good as to do so, since it was the original copy which I sent thinking that you might wish to see Mr. Price’s full reply in consideration of your having courteously permitted me to forward him our correspondence. You will, if I may say so, appreciate that we and Mr. Price regard with some seriousness your objecting so strongly to the description of Mr. Price as your former correspondent in Russia, since you definitely contradict what has hitherto been a universal impression of Mr. Price himself and of his readers – an impression that seems justified by the fact that at the time he was writing for you, you always published his despatches as from “Our” correspondent. If you do not care to favour us with your reply, perhaps you would prefer to communicate with Mr. Price himself, and I am informing him of this suggestion. Yours very truly, Arthur E.E.
