Description:
Letter from Mrs Eleanor Glover to Mary Hamilton, conveying general news. Glover has been the 'happiest of all beings' since the return of Mr Glover from Bath in good health. He is also in good spirits and seems pleased with everything. Since his return he has been gardening and working on a piece of barren ground and Glover details the improvements to it that her husband is planning. Glover also writes of the visitors that they have had and with news of Sir William Wake who is ill but cannot be persuaded to visit Bath or Buxton.
Inside the letter is a newspaper cutting showing an image of Lunardi's balloon and dated 15 September 1784 with a second image taken from the Gardner Collection of an old drawing of the Horse Sale at Smithfield Market.
Dated at Sunning Hill.
