Evangelia, eleventh century manuscript written on vellum. 22 lines to a page, in two? fine, small, delicate hands. Bound in modern black morocco, with gold tooling. The Bateman crest (crescent surmounted by star between two wings) is on the back. The manuscript contains a number of decorative initials and inhabited bar borders with animals, angels and other figures.
