Description:
Siege of Troy. Book one: Jason thanks Medea for her offer of help and swears to be true to her until death. Medea then tries to persuade Jason not to attempt to retrieve the golden fleece after all, but Jason is commited to his quest, saying it would be cowardice if he did not proceed. Illustrated detail in margin: Jason and Medea in conversation. There is a floriated, illuminated full border and three illuminated initials in the text. The illustration has been identified as being painted by an artist stylistically close to William Abell, an important mid-fifteenth English illuminator. The written space is 305 x 200 mm, 2 columns and 44 lines and the script is anglicana formata by two hands.
