Description: 
The tale of the death of King Edmund, and of King Eldred (Eadred) his brother who reigned after him. The tale of King Edwynne (Edwy), Eldred's brother who reigned after him, who was corrupt and ungodly. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of King Edgar, Edwynne's son, who reigned over the whole of Scotland and Wales, and who was good and powerful. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

man of body and a noble knyȝt. and þe iij ȝer aft(er) he was king he wente ou(er) Humber in which place. he had .ij. kinges of Danoys . þat on me callede. Enelaf. and þ(t) oþer Renaud // þis king Edmund drof ham boþe fram þe londe and aft(er) wente an took gret preye in Cumberland // þis Edmund ne regnede but .vij. ȝer. and lith at Glastyngbery // And aft(er) þis Edmund regnede Eldred his broþ(er) þat vengede Edward his fader of his enemys þ(t) him quelde. and afterward he seysede. Northumb(er)land in to his hand and made þ(e) scotte(s) abowe and meke vnto his will // And þe .ije. ȝere þ(t) he had regned come Arnalaf. Q(ur)ran. þ(t) was king of Denmark and seisede al Northm(~)b(er)land and held þ(t) lond .ij. ȝere. and aft(er) þat come king Eldred with a g(re)t poer and drof him out of þis lande // and þis king Eldred was a noble man & a good of whos goodnesse sent Dunstou(~) p(re)chede. and þis king Eldred regned xj ȝere. and lith at Wynchestr(e) // and after þis Eldred. Edwynne his broþ(er) regnede and was a luther man toward god and to þ(e) poeple. for he hatede folc of his owene lande and louede and honurede st(ra)unge me(~): and set litel by holy churche and bynome of holy chirche al þe tresour þat he mighte haue þat was gret shame & vilonye to him self and p(er)il of his soule and þerfore god wolde nought þ(t) he shulde regne no leng(er)e þan .iiij. ȝere .& deyde and lith at Wynchestr(e) Of king Edgar þat regned aboue þe kinges of Scotland and of Walis and how he was þorugh taking of his wif.
