Red rubrication and an illuminated initial 'W' introduce the tale of Buerne and the Danes Hungar (Hinguar) and Hubba, whose army arrives in England and besieges towns. They kill King Osbright and conquer towns in the North of England. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

þe king had done to his wif. and for as muche as Buer- ne was sib. to þe king of Denmarc // Anon þey lete ordeyn(~) a gret host of men and lete ordeigne shippes and as muche as was nede to þat viage. and whanne al þ(e) host was redy: þe king made his to breþ(er)en chiueteynes þat were noble kniȝt(es) and bolde. þat on me callede Hungar and þat oþ(er) Hubba. How þe Danoys token ȝork and quelde þe king Os- bright and aft(er)ward king Elle Capo. Centesimo quarto Whanne alle þing was redy: þo .ij. breþ(er)en toke leue of þe king. Godrin and wente to-ward þe see for to wende in to Engelond. as faste as þey mighte speede. Now is Buerne so wel comforted and faste hiede him wiþ þe Danoys þat þey ben arryuede in þe Norþ cuntre and co- men thorugh out holdernesse and destroyede al þe cuntre & brende tounes and robbede folc and quelde al þat þey myghte take til þat þey comen to york // And whanne king Osbright saugh ham come: he nome his peple þat he had and come out þe cite and wiþ ham faught: but no foysoun he nad aȝens ham and muche was þe peple þat þere was slayn in boþe p(ar)ties. and þe king Osbright him self þ(er)e was slayn and þe citee. anon was take: and þe Danoys wenten in // And þ(er)e was also another king in Northu(~)berlond þat Buern(es) frendes had chosen and helde him for king a man þat me callede Elle . for as muche as þey wolde nouȝt to king Osbright ben entendaunt for þe despite þat he had done to Buerne hire cosyn // Jt bifel þus þat þe king Elle was gon to woode him al for to desporte: and of venesou(~) somdel he had take and as he sat in þe woode at mete to a knyȝt he sayde. we haue wel y sped and muche vene soun taken and wiþ þat word þ(er)e come in a man and to him saide: sire ȝif ȝe so muche of venesoun(~) haue y wonne. an hundred tymes so muche þ(er)e aȝens þe haue lost for al þis cuntre þe Danoys haue gete and take þe citee of ȝork and aȝens ȝow shulleþ hit holde þ(t) neuere
