to quelle ham þat c(ri)en him m(er)cy for ynough ȝe haue don and vs ou(er)come and for þe loue of god suffreth vs for to lyue: and haueþ mercy of cristene peple þat bileue in god as ȝe done // Whenne king Arthur herde þis sorwe : he hadde piete of ham and ȝaf ha(~) lyf and lyme : and alle þe felle doun(~) to his feete and bicome his liege men and he toke of ham homages // And aft(er) þ(t). king Arthur turnede aȝen wiþ his ost and come aȝen to ȝork and þ(er)e he abode durynge þat viage and þo ȝaf he all loegers to loth þat hadde spoused his suster. and oþ(er)e ȝiftes gret plentee and þo was Gawayn his cosyn but of ȝonge age. and to alle his oþere men þat him had serued in his werre he ȝaf riche ȝiftes and he þankede ham moche of hire seruyse. How king Arthur spousede Gunmore þat was Cadores cosyn Erl of Cor- newaile and after he conquerede of Guillomer al Jrlande. Co. lxxvijmo.:. Whanne Arthure had brought his land in pees and reste and in good estate. and reste was in euery cuntre: þo nome he and wedded a wif vat me called Gunmore and made hire Quene. a fair lady and a gentil þat Cador þe Erl of Cornewaile had long time norisshed in his chambre þat was his owen cosyn: but neu(er)e þey hadden childe to gidre. and noþeles king Arthur louede hire wonder wel & derliche // And anon as wynter were passed he lete assemble a gret ost and alle his Barouns and saide þat he wolde wen- de in to Jrlande for to conquere þe lande and he tariede nouȝt longe þat he ne passede ou(er) in to Jrlande // And Guillomer þe king of Scotlande lete assemble a gret ost and ȝef bataile to king Arthur but Guillomer was descomfited and ȝeld hy(~) to þe king Arthur and bicome his man and to him dede feaute and homage and of him helde al þat lande fro þat time forþ- warde and after passede king Arthur forþ(er)more and conquered Gutland and Jrland: and toke homages of folc of þe lande and þere duellede .xij. ȝere in pees and regnede w(t) ioye and merþe and werrede vppon no manere man ne noman vppon him // And he bicome so curteys and large and so honurable
