Description:
|
Letter to Barbara Fergusson from Elizabeth Gaskell. Fergusson was the nurse, and later governess, of Gaskell's eldest two daughters, Marianne and Meta. The letter is full of domestic details such as bad-smelling rooms, forgotten toothbrushes and the washing. In particular Gaskell mentions a new dress that has been spoilt by hot milk.
